Q: Will Rent Beach Stuff deliver equipment to my home, condo or hotel for free? A: Yes. During the reservation process we simply need the location where you're staying and your items will be waiting for you. We have STUFF on-site at many local hotels so just check with the front desk staff when you get there.
Q: How do I get the items back to you? A:Rent Beach Stuff staff will come and pick them up. Just have it all together.
Q: How clean should items be when I return them? A: You don't have to clean anything. We ask that you knock off most of the sand when leaving the beach. We will clean and perform any maintenance necessary for the next person. If you rent the BBQ grill please remove the griddles and run through the washing machine before returning.
Q: What happens if I break something? A: Accidents happen. We ask that you take reasonable care of the items and just inform us when something breaks. We will do our best to repair or replace it during your vacation. Rent Beach Stuff purchases the highest quality product we can find so that damage is rare.
Q: I lost my wedding ring while playing volleyball on the beach. Can I use the metal detector to find it. A: YES!! Most of our metal detectors rent to people looking for lost things like car keys, rings, watches, and all sorts of jewelry. To date (11/1/09) our metal detectors were successful in finding 105 out of 138 lost items. That's a good record and we make it a point to keep track.
Q: I'd like to go kayaking while I'm in Jacksonville, where should I go? A: There are so many great places to explore while sitting in a kayak. We suggest you contact a local guide and let them show you around and tell you not only the history of the area but also tells you about the plants, birds, and animals that make Jacksonville's waterways so unique and diverse. Q: When I vacation in Miami or the Jersey Shore there are guys on the beach that set up chairs and umbrellas for you. Is that service available in Jacksonville Beach? A: During the summer (May to September) we have kiosks on the sand. These kiosks have an attendant that will set up lounge chairs and umbrellas for you. Also available are surfboards, boogie boards, snorkel gear, towels, and kayaks. We currently have two operations located on the beach at 11 First Street North, and 691 First Street North, here in Jacksonville Beach. See Contact Us page for more information.
Q: Where's a good place to stay at the beach? A: There are great hotels, vacation homes, and bed & breakfast's here at the beach. Look at the Partner Hotel page for oceanfront and just-off-the-ocean hotels. Check out our links page for the Vacation Rentals and the B&B's. You can always call us and we'll tell you about each property. We have personally stayed at or had family and friends lodging at each and every one of these properties so we'll give you the inside scoop.
Q: What are the rules for bike riding in Jacksonville? A: There are many Florida laws governing bike riding. You can find them at www.foridabicycle.com. The primary ones are that kids under 16 must wear a helmet, don't ride drunk, and night riding requires a white light in front and a red light in back. There are a whole lotta other rules like which side of the road to ride on, signals at intersections, riding with others, and speed limits. If you don't wanna get a ticket then ask a police officer when you get here. Jax Beach police officers are friendly..Believe It or Not!!
Q: What happens if something gets stolen? A: Call the police and file a report. Afterwards call us and let us know the circumstances of the theft and we'll work out an equitable way of paying for the item. The items are your responsibility during the rental period so use care and caution as if it were your own.
Q: I'm ordering a lot of items. Can I get a discount or a package deal? A: Yes, special pricing is available for packages, multiple week rentals, special event rentals, and repeat customers.
Q: I need a wheel chair that goes on the beach. You don't rent them, why? A: These wheel chairs have huge balloon tires that make it easy to push in thick sand. We don't rent them because they are available free from the lifeguard stations in Jacksonville Beach and Atlantic Beach. Call them at 904-249-9141, 904-247-5883 respectively. Tell them Rent Beach Stuff sent you. If you need to use it at your vacation property just ask them. They may want you to leave some collateral such as your regular wheelchair or your driver's license.
Q: We need baby items such as a high-chair, a car seat, and a crib. Do you offer these items? A: We only have baby items used primarily at the beach such as jogging strollers and pack-n-plays. Q: Do you rent Jet Skis? A: We don't rent Jet Skis but our friends at Atlantic Watersports have Jet Skis and boats for you to enjoy during your vacation. Call them at 904-270-0200 or visit them at 2327 Beach Blvd here in Jax Beach.
Q: Do you rent scooters or mopeds? A: No we don't rent any motorized vehicles but we know of a place that does. Contact Pete or Claudio at Kitai Powersports at (904) 372-0171. They are located at 228 3rd St North here in Jacksonville Beach and you can rent by the hour, day, or by the week. Make sure you tell them you found out about them through Rent Beach Stuff. I doubt they'll give you a discount but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Q: Do you sell your old equipment? A: No we don't. Even though our equipment is very well maintained we do maximize its 'rentable' life. We normally make a donation to Goodwill or our local church for their annual fund raiser. Of course if you are particularly fond of an item we would be glad to give you our supplier's contact information or make a special order on your behalf.
Q: If I rent kayaks can you deliver them to one location and pick us up at another location? A: In general, yes we will drop the kayaks off at one location either at the beach or in the Intercoastal Waterway and come get them at another location. However, we can not transport you and your gear back. So you'll have to make transportation arrangements by leaving a vehicle at the pickup point. Or plan to paddle back to the original launch point.
Q: When is high / low tide? A: I don't know. But when I need to know I look at the tide tables published by the National Weather Service for Jacksonville Beach Florida. CLICK HERE
Q: Renting things on the beach is a great idea. How can I go about getting a permit to rent stuff on the beach? A: It's amazing how many times we get asked to help create our own competition. We spent years growing our business and creating a loyal customer base so we're not going to give up our plans easily. If you'd like to purchase the business then we'd be happy to discuss the details. Otherwise.....we'll keep mum on that question.
